Check the draft, then send

Recurring invoices start as drafts, so you can check each one before it goes out. For work that stays the same, Pro lets you enable auto-send on a template.

  • A new invoice prepared for each due period
  • Review and edit a draft before issuing it
  • Optional automatic sending on Pro

Sending an invoice doesn't automatically charge the client. They pay using the options on their invoice.

Pause when the work pauses

A client taking a break? Pause their template so it stops producing new invoices. Activate it again and check the next run date when the regular work resumes.

  • Pause without deleting the template
  • Keep existing invoices on record

Questions about recurring invoices

Which schedules can I use?

Weekly, fortnightly or monthly. You choose the next run date and payment terms when setting up the recurring template.

Will Bilbee send the invoices automatically?

Drafts are the default. Pro lets you enable auto-send for a recurring template. Creating a template on Free or Standard doesn't send invoices without your review.

Will it automatically charge the client's card?

No. Recurring invoices aren't automatic card charges or direct debits. The client pays using the options on each invoice, including card payments if you've connected your own Stripe account.

Can I change one invoice without changing every future invoice?

You can edit a generated invoice while it's a draft. Edit the recurring template when you want to change the details used for future invoices.

What happens to existing invoices if I pause a template?

They remain on record. Pausing stops new invoices being generated from that template; it doesn't cancel invoices you've already created or sent.

How does this work on Free?

You can have two active templates. Generated drafts don't use your monthly allowance until first issued. Free includes five issued invoices each month across recurring and one-off invoices.

Can I schedule a one-off invoice instead?

Yes, on Pro. Scheduling a single invoice to send later is separate from a recurring template that generates invoices on a repeating schedule.
